Customs Officer in Custody

McALLEN, Texas (AP) _ An off-duty U.S. customs officer is in custody after authorities say he killed the owner of a south Texas bar with his government-issue handgun following an altercation.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino says 48-year-old Fermin Limon, owner of Punto 3 Night Club in Mission, was shot in the chest and leg around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Trevino says the shooter was a customs officer who had been thrown out of the club. Authorities are not identifying officer pending his arraignment later Monday or Tuesday.

Trevino says he expects that a murder charge will be filed against the off-duty officer. A customs spokesman said he was not immediately aware of the situation.
