The College Station school district (CSISD) is among 100 districts chosen to test new computer software to report academic and financial information to the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
CSISD director of data services Jackie Janacek says the test will be done in a few buildings involving selected teachers and administrators.
If the software performs as anticipated, it could replace a system that’s been in place since 1987. In the long run this could save the district money as well as being a more efficient and useful tool to report data the TEA uses to determine district funding and academic achievement.

CSISD officials say the TSDS “student GPS system” does not physically track students like the name might indicate. It is a data dashboard that can be used by teachers and administrators to help individualize instruction and content for students.
