CS Staff Proposes No Tax Increase

College Station city staff has developed the budget proposal they will present to City Council.

Click to hear WTAW’s Chris Clift talk with Chief Financial Officer Jeff Kersten:

The proposed budget does not call for any increase in taxes, but there is a shortfall of about $1 million that the city has to deal with.

Kersten says they have developed cost saving measures such as reducing staff travel and training that can bridge the gap.

Under the proposed budget no COCS employees would lose their job.

Any budget proposal must be approved by Council before taking effect.

Kersten will present the budget information to Council August 17.
