Some College Station water customers in the Northgate and Southwood Valley areas may experience discolored water Tuesday as repairs are made to a water line at the Dowling Road Pump Station. The discoloration poses no health risks, according to city officials. A portion of the pump station will be taken out of service starting at 1 p.m. and water temporarily will be transferred through an interconnect with Texas A&M University. College Station Water Services crews will flush water lines in the distribution system to proactively address discolored water issues before customers notice it at their taps. The repairs are expected to take several hours, but normal water service is expected to be restored before the end of Tuesday.
In Bryan, on Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m., crews will perform smoke testing of the sanitary sewer lines to identify broken pipes and other defects. Field crews will introduce smoke into the sewer lines and manholes in order to perform testing. Employees will enter properties to document defects. At no time will crews need to enter private residences. Citizens do not need to be home during the test. Testing will continue intermittently through the duration of the month. The target area consists of properties located within the boundaries of Bellview Circle, Dean Street, Conlee Street, Pease Street, Saunders Street, Lucky Street, Neel Street, Monterrey Street, Bonneville Street, San Jacinto Lane, Sandy Point Road, McCulloch Street, West 22nd Street, West 23rd Street, West 24th Street, West William Joel Bryan Parkway, West 26th Street, South and North Alamo Avenue, South and North Brazos Avenue, Short Avenue, Tatum Street, West 27th Street, Anderson Street, and Bois D Arc Street. The 911 system and the Bryan Fire Department have been notified of the test area. The smoke will exit from vent pipes on the roofs of houses. The smoke is non-toxic, leaves no residue and creates no fire hazard. The smoke will not enter a house unless there is defective plumbing present or the drain traps are dry. To help prevent smoke from entering a home, please pour about 1 gallon of water into any seldom-used drains.
