CS Councilman Dave Ruesink on WTAW

College Station Councilman Dave Ruesink will wrap up his six years of service next month.

He says he’s pleased with several changes he’s seen in the city throughout his term, especially in the Northgate area, such as residential and parking development.

Ruesink also feels that the council is more thoughtful about its spending than it has sometimes been in the past.

Of the many subjects he faced during his two terms, Ruesink says he has no regrets about voting to annex Wellborn into College Station.

He says he feels that five years from now, the people of Wellborn will be very pleased that things went the way that they did, and that they won’t be the ones having to make all the decisions about what the city’s going to be.

He says they have the opportunity through the neighborhood plan to to make it what they want anyway, without all of the headaches that usually go with incorporation.

As for regrets, Ruesink wishes that they had purchased the land to build the convention center ten years earlier than they did.
