It’s taken nearly two years of meetings.
But the College Station City Council and Northgate district businessowners have reached an agreement about improving pedestrian safety.
Public Works Director Chuck Gilman says that includes removing parking along University Drive.

Comments from Chuck Gilman.Gilman says parallel parking is going away along University from Wellborn to Tauber. Gilman says their budget is $2 million dollars in state highway money that was authorized two years ago.

More from Chuck Gilman.The parallel parking will be replaced with a sidewalk from Wellborn to College Main and a loading zone from College Main to Lodge Street.
Gilman says the parking ban will start around the first of the year, when construction is scheduled to start.
