CS Council Majority Decides To Not Consider Residential RV Parking Restrictions

Residential parking of RV’s, boats, trailers, and other non-passenger vehicles in College Station will remain unchanged following a City Council public hearing Thursday night.

The idea to restrict parking to residential backyards was turned down by a 5-2 consensus.

The staff proposal, applying to areas not covered by deed restrictions such as homeowner associations, was in response to years of complaints to council members from other residents all over the city.

The council’s decision followed scores of e-mails and 19 speakers at the public hearing.

Councilwoman Katy-Marie Lyles was not opposed to allowing front and side parking. But she wanted consistency in another ordinance that bans cars parked on grass to apply to all vehicles. Berry said that could be considered in the future.
