Three plans were presented to the College Station City Council Thursday night regarding how to improve the infrastructure at Northgate.
Click to hear the story from WTAW’s Chris Clift:
Two of the three plans would involve a significant loss of parking spaces.
More than 20 people came forward to tell Council they were not in favor of any plan that would reduce parking at Northgate.
Mayor Pro-Tem Lynn McIlhaney says they have to find a plan that will balance the infrastructure needs with the desire to keep as much parking as possible.
Without taking an official vote Council instructed city staff to write up a new plan for Northgate.
Director of Capital Projects Chuck Gilman says they will sit down and have additional conversations with Northgate stakeholders to see what can be done.
Gilman says the ideas put forth in a new plan should cost $2.5 million or less.
He expects to present that plan to Council in about two months.
In the meantime anyone with concerns regarding the changes coming to Northgate is encouraged to contact city officials.
