CS Council Asked Again to Fund CVB Hotel Tax Grants

The College Station city council at its last meeting was asked again to approve additional hotel occupancy tax money to award tourism grants administered by the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).

Two of the speakers were the council’s appointees to the CVB board, Peggy Callahan and Scott Shafer. Also speaking was the chairman of the CVB board, Hunter Goodwin.

The grant committee recommended spending more than $76,000 for future events in College Station and Bryan. That’s compared to the CVB staff recommendation of about $140,000 and the $250,000 sought by the organizers of 13 events.
