A Bryan man out on parole from a 40 year prison term when he was caught with a loaded pistol in his jacket last February is returning to state custody.
45 year old David Greer, who was convicted by a Brazos County District Court jury this week, was sentenced to 30 years.
Greer had been free following a 1997 conviction for methamphetamine possession out of Grimes County.
A Brazos County deputy found the gun during a search after stopping Greer for towing a trailer that did not have a license plate.
Prosecutors say normal punishment is two to ten years, but they sought more due to Greer’s criminal history.
