A Bryan man arrested last September on five counts of possessing child pornography was back in jail this week. The Brazos County District Attorney’s office says 46 year old Robert Lawrence was arrested on another four counts, resulting from last year’s search of his travel trailer. At that time, investigators found several electronic devices containing illegal videos involving children between the ages of four and ten. Lawrence was released from jail after posting additional bonds.
A Brazos County district court jury went home before hearing all the evidence in a criminal trial that started earlier this week. That’s after 27 year old Linton Roston Jr. of Bryan admitted to firing a handgun while driving his car in July of last year then threatening a man who Roston had fought the day before. No one was hit by the gunfire, and Roston was sentenced to ten years for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
A College Station man has admitted to driving drunk twice in a three month period earlier this year. As part of a plea agreement, 39 year old Carlos Perez of College Station was sentenced to six years for his third and fourth DWI convictions. Both took place in College Station, on February first and most recently April 28th. The latest incident followed a hit and run on Texas south of Harvey Mitchell where his car was found at his home.
Another drunk driving case involves a Bryan man with four prior convictions who was arrested following a rear-end collision. 54 year old Clinton Hurley is out of jail after posting bond. According to online court records, Hurley pleaded guilty to his fourth DWI in September 2013 and was sentenced to two years as part of a plea agreement.
An Austin man was sentenced to 25 years for possessing a large quantity of psychedelic mushrooms and black tar heroin, along with $230 dollars in cash. 36 year old Ruben Carrillo Jr. was arrested in October 2013 after a College Station policeman stopped him for going 70 in a 60 mile per hour zone. Two weeks ago, Carrillo was stopped by Bryan police at two in the morning for not having a working license plate light. That led to another arrest where police seized drugs and $4,200 dollars in cash.
Another case also began with a license plate light not working. 29 year old Nicholas Sexton of Bryan was stopped by a Brazos County precinct two deputy constable in September of last year. Sexton admitted to having an estimated $6,000 dollars of methamphetamine, about $1,200 dollars in cash, and two cell phones containing text messages related to selling drugs. Sexton was sentenced to 14 years.
And another 14 year sentence was handed down to another man arrested by precinct two deputy constables. 32 year old Jason Crockett of College Station admitted to possessing $4,000 dollars of meth and seven bundles of cash totaling more than $2,000 dollars.
