Crash on Highway 21 Near Brazos/Madison County Line Kills One

Update 3:55 p.m.

Thanks to DPS Trooper Jimmy Morgan for this update on the crash that closed Highway 21 near the Madison/Brazos County line.

We’re told the highway should reopen around 4 p.m. A box truck full of plumbing equipment rear-ended an oil tanker that had stopped in a construction zone.

The driver of the box truck, Jack Lecroy, 59, of Spring, Texas, was killed.  The driver of the oil tanker was not hurt.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) reports Highway 21 is closed due to a crash near the Madison-Brazos County line. The highway is not expected to reopen until 6 p.m. at the earliest.

Two semis collided at Shepherds Creek in Madison County. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is working the accident.

Motorists who travel this area should find an alternate route. Among the options between Bryan and Madisonville are (1) OSR and (2) using Highway 30, FM 244, and FM 39.
