Original story:
Two Bryan men were killed Friday morning in a crash near North Zulch.
Henry Scarbrough with the DPS office in Centerville says a pickup truck with two brothers, Blake Holladay, 23, and Dusty Holladay, 18, left the road, over-corrected, and crossed into the westbound lane, hitting a semi hauling rocks.
This is the second fatal crash in three weeks on Highway 21 near North Zulch, and Scarbrough says people are looking for answers, asking if there are problems with the road’s safety and speed limit.
He says they haven’t determined that the road is any more dangerous than any other roadway, other than the usual hazards inherent in a two-lane roadway in a rural area.
Scarbrough says at this time, it looks like speed wasn’t a factor because of the distance traveled by the car, and the cause of the truck leaving the road in the first place is still being investigated.
He says the Holladays were ejected from the truck, and it looks like the driver was not wearing a seat belt, but it’s hard to tell.
The driver of the semi had no apparent injuries.
The last fatal accident on that road occurred January 17, again, when a car crossed into the other lane.
Both drivers were killed.
