Construction is scheduled to start this month on Texas A&M’s west campus to improve Penberthy Road.

Approval was given at the May 29th board of regents meeting to the $5.8 million dollar project as presented by A&M chief financial officer John Crawford.

Crawford says widening the road is scheduled to be completed by the start of the fall semester.

The rest, which is supposed to be done by January 2026, includes shared use paths on both sides of the widened road to accommodate heavy pedestrian and cyclist traffic, new street and pedestrian lighting, and a bicycle parking area at Penberthy and Tom Chandler.

The project will be paid by revenue from A&M transportation services.
