Construction of College Station ISD’s Third Middle School Is Underway

It took three months and not 30 days as sought by the College Station school district to get all the necessary permits to start construction of its third middle school.

College Station city manager Kelly Templin says there were multiple reviews before construction of the $51 million dollar school could start.

Templin emphasized the school district is one of the city’s top priorities, and both are facing challenges in a growing community.

But Templin says CSISD’s expectation to get the permits in 30 days were not “realistic”.

Templin says part of the process is getting approval of the project passing national fire codes and getting the green light from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

CSISD facilities director Jon Hall told the school board last week he was uncomfortable with losing three months.

Templin says he prefers not to find out about school issues in the media…and that officials have his phone number and they are welcomed to call any time of the day or night, seven days a week.
