Consol wins Game One, 4-2, Over Bryan

Fans took up every inch of space at Bienski Stadium last night to watch Game one of the Region II Championship Series between the Bryan Vikings and the A&M Consolidated Tigers and the saw what they expected to see…. A low scoring pitching show and as those things go, mistakes told the tale.

The Consol Tigers are one win away from a trip to State after a 4-2 win over their crosstown rivals. Game two of the best of three series starts today at 5:30 at Brenham’s Fireman’s Park. If Bryan wins to tie the series, the deciding game will follow the first game.

More than 2,500 fans took up all the bleacher-space and standing space to watch this high reward showdown. Four Bryan errors helped pave the way for Consol to break a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning with Alec Paradowski’s two-out bases loaded single.

Riley Ferrell got the win in a pitching dual with Bryan’s Ty Culbreath. Consol’s Seth Holbert got the save as he gave up just one hit and struck out the final Bryan batter.

The Tigers outhit the Vikes 9-3 but it was a Bryan error and a two-out hit batsman in the sixth that loaded the bases for Paradowski’s two-run hit.

We will broadcast all the baseball from Fireman’s Park today on WTAW, starting at 5:15 with the pre-game of Game 2 of the series.
