A Houston based energy company wants to build a pipeline through the Brazos Valley to move what it calls liquids-rich natural gas produced from west of Odessa. Next Monday (June 3) begins 15 open houses about the 690 mile project from the Permian Basin to Lake Charles, Louisiana. The applicant, DeLa Express LLC, is a subsidiary of Moss Lake Partners LP. The informational gatherings, which will have no formal presentation, includes the Walker County fairgrounds in Huntsville on Monday June 10th from four until eight p.m. and at the city of Hearne’s clubhouse on Tuesday the 11th from four until eight p.m. The map of the proposed route shows the pipeline going through northeast Milam County, southwest Robertson County, northern Brazos and Grimes counties, and southern Walker County. A former teacher at College Station’s International Leadership of Texas (ILT) K-8 school is arrested on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a 12 year old student. The College Station police arrest report says 46 year old Jose Hernandez-Grimaldo denies the attack that took place after school in February of 2023. The victim says Grimaldo pulled her into a bathroom, covered her mouth, and threatened to kill her if she screamed or told anyone what he did to her. CSPD investigators learned Grimaldo was fired after he touched four female students. Grimaldo, who lives in the Dallas suburb of Seagoville according to Brazos County jail records, was booked Wednesday (May 29) and is held in lieu of a $200,000 dollar bond.
May’s regular meeting of the College Station ISD school board included approving health insurance rates and discussion of pay increases for the 2024-25 school year. The board approved the administration’s recommendation that the district increase its health insurance contribution by an average of six percent and employees also paying an average increase of six percent. Superintendent Tim Harkrider pointed out CSISD contributes $150 to $200 dollars a month more towards employee health insurance than comparable districts. He says that is something more employees…current and prospects…need to review along with their salary. The CSISD board’s pay raise discussion included chief financial officer Amy Drozd recommending to not change what is known as step increases for returning teachers, librarians, and nurses. She estimated that cost at $539,570. Administrators plan to make a recommendation for a cost of living raise during the June meeting. The superintendent said “We also have to realize that our most important resource is our teachers and staff members.
