Condo Fire Leads to Found Body

Wednesday evening update:

There were multiple fires in a west Bryan apartment Wednesday afternoon, and the man who lived alone was found dead.

Fire inspector William Bouse says this was at the Twin City condominiums on Verde Drive, off FM 2818 between Turkey Creek and Villa Maria.

Bouse says fires were found in the kitchen, the center of the living room, and two bedrooms.

They were all extinguished before spreading to other units in the building.

While inside, firefighters discovered an adult man.  Bouse says the man, who lived alone in the apartment, had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound but no fire-related injuries.

The building was evacuated but Bouse says residents were allowed to return and power was restored to all units except the apartment of origin.

No firefighters were injured.

The police department’s criminal investigations division is also looking into the incident and as of Wednesday afternoon there was no evidence to indicate foul play was involved.
