College Station Wildfire Threatens Residents, Offices, & Church

Firefighters from College Station and other agencies caught a quick moving wildfire Sunday afternoon.

Spokesman Bart Humphries says the fire started after tree limbs fell into electric lines along the southbound Earl Rudder freeway service road north of FM 2818/Harvey Mitchell Parkway.

Strong winds blew the fire south over 2818, spreading the wildfire near two housing subdivisions, two mobile home parks, a church, and Crystal Park Plaza…home to Bryan Broadcasting and other businessses.

Humphries says no one was hurt, the only structure lost to the fire was an abandoned shed, and it’s estimated 70 to 100 acres were burned.
