College Station Police Talk Man Out Of Jumping Off Bridge

Traffic on the freeway in College Station was tied up for more than two hours Saturday as a man threatened to jump off a bridge.

College Station police responded at 11:37 a.m. to motorists reports of a man who appeared ready to jump off the the bridge at the southbound Rock Prairie exit ramp.

Officers from CSPD’s SWAT and hostage negotiation teams talked the man from sitting on a bridge rail. Also responding was the College Station fire department.

Traffic at the southbound Rock Prairie exit ramp and northbound Texas exit ramp was blocked until approximately 2:15 p.m.

The circumstances about why the man was at the bridge were not released.
