College Station police responded to a call from an employee at local bank reporting someone trying to cash a $9,200 dollar check on the account of an 88 year old woman that turned out to be forged.

A search of the suspect’s SUV turned up another forged check, this one for $50,000 dollars, along with a third check for an undisclosed amount, and a stolen credit card.

The CSPD arrest report says 25 year old Dante McKinnie was on pretrial release for federal charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

As of Thursday (February 5), Kinnie remains held in lieu of bonds totaling $90,000 dollars.

Online jail records show McKinnie lives in the west Houston suburb of Fulshear. A CSPD Facebook post shows McKinnie is from Chattanooga, Tennessee.

CSPD’s Facebook post also recognized the “vigilance of bank staff who recognized suspicious activity and helped prevent an elderly individual from being victimized”.
