More information is known about the local man who was arrested following a two hour manhunt Wednesday night south of the Texas A&M campus.
According to online records, 33 year old Scott Pettit, who was charged with stealing a pickup and causing a hit and run crash, used to live in Bryan but moved to Bastrop.
At the time of Pettit’s arrest Wednesday night…where he was found under the back porch of a home near Brison Park…he was out on bond awaiting two trials. One is on felony charges of credit or debit card abuse. The other is for felony theft with two or more prior convictions.
As of Friday afternoon, Pettit is in the Brazos County jail in lieu of bonds totaling $75,000 dollars. It is Pettit’s eighth booking since last March and 22nd time since January of 2009.

College Station police announce the suspect in a car theft that took place Thursday afternoon around 5:15 p.m., then is accused of causing a hit and run crash, was captured around 7:15 p.m.
According to a CSPD tweet, 33-year-old Scott Anthony Pettit of Gause was taken in a patrol car for treatment of being under the influence of something other than alcohol.
Pettit will be arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and likely other charges.

An estimated 10 College Station police vehicles are south of the Texas A&M campus in the southside district, looking for for a man accused of stealing a car and being responsible for a hit and run crash.
As of 6:50 p.m., CSPD tweeted a request to avoid their perimeter near Brison Park, which is south of George Bush and Dexter.
Anyone witnessing suspicious activity is asked to call 9-1-1.
The suspect is described as a dark skinned white or Hispanic man in his late 30’s to early 40’s with a military style haircut. There is a tattoo sleeve on his left arm and was wearing a military green shirt.
According to CSPD tweets, the man stole the car around 5:15 p.m. on Oney Hervey Drive.
Then the man is accused of a hit and run crash near Holleman and Eleanor.
The victim of the hit and run followed the suspect to the Brison Park area, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
