Weekend arrests on felony charges by College Station police includes what happened after a traffic stop for a seat belt violation and after a car crashed into a creek.
A College Station police officer who was stopped behind a two ton pickup truck in the midnight hour last Saturday (July 19). saw a front seat passenger not wearing their seat belt. That led to the driver being arrested for possessing six types of illegal drugs. The CSPD arrest report says a search inside the truck happened after the officer saw marijuana under the passenger’s leg. Officers also found methamphetamine, ecstasy, Xanax, Gabapentin, and Meloxicam. The driver, 35 year old Lashonda Lewis of Navasota, was also arrested for unlawful carrying of a handgun. Lewis is out of jail after posting bonds totaling $41,000 dollars.
College Station police respond Sunday (July 20) at about two in the morning to a car that drove into a creek on the other side of the railroad tracks near Wellborn Road and Southwest Parkway. The driver, who was inside the car that was filling with water and debris, refused to leave and had to be removed. Then she was escorted for 20 yards to get out of the water. 45 year old Ebony Kelly of Bryan was arrested for DWI with two prior convictions. She was released from jail after posting an $18,000 dollar bond.
