College Station police arrest two drivers in what was described as a road rage incident.
CSPD arrest reports say officers responded Friday night (February 27) just after 6:30 to Texas Avenue a block south of University.
The driver of a car said after he made a lane change in front of a Jeep, the driver of the Jeep honked his horn and a passenger in the Jeep threw three bottles.
Officers obtained video from the driver of a Tesla that showed while the vehicles were stopped, two women got out of the Jeep and went to the car.
The arrest reports say the Tesla video shows one woman approached the front of the car and was struck as the car accelerated forward. That caused the first woman to bounce off the hood and strike the pavement.
The Tesla video showed the second woman approached the driver’s side of the car while the window was down. The arrest report says the car driver then quickly went into reverse which dragged the second woman along with the vehicle before she is struck and hits the ground. Then the car driver reverses into another vehicle before driving east on Poplar Street.
Arrest reports say the driver of the car told a CSPD officer after he called 9-1-1, he “returned when he believed the situation had calmed.”
After the driver of the car returned, the arrest reports say the driver of the Jeep, who is the father of the women who were struck, got out and struck a passenger in the car.
None of the arrest reports said if any of the injured received medical treatment. WTAW News has asked CSPD for that information.
The driver of the car, 27 year old Syed Shadman of College Station, remained in jail as of March 2 in lieu of bonds totaling $100,000 dollars on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The driver of the Jeep, 41 year old Lee Spilde of College Station, was arrested for assault causing bodily injury and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Spidle was released from jail after posting bonds totaling $7,000 dollars.
