
The traffic stop results in the officer finding almost one pound of methamphetamine, smaller quantities of ecstasy and marijuana, $750 dollars in cash and unlawful possession of a gun by two convicted felons.
That results in multiple charges against a Navasota couple.
The driver, 36 year old Merl Simpson Jr., was also arrested for parole violations for armed robbery that took place in Grimes County in 2011.
The passenger, 36 year old Natasha Flores, was also arrested for violating two bonds from Grimes County on charges of continuous violence against family members and retaliation.
The CSPD arrest report says the officer smelled marijuana coming out of the car as he was approaching the vehicle. The officer also saw marijuana in the center console of the car.
That led to a search inside the vehicle, where the gun and the ecstasy were found inside the purse.
During a search of Simpson, the officer found inside of Simpson’s pants a loaded gun and a grocery bag full of what tested positive as methamphetamine.
The weight of the meth was 400.7 grams, the weight of the ecstasy was 35.7 grams, and the weight of the marijuana was 12.5 grams.
As of September 18, Simpson remains in the Brazos County jail on the parole hold and bonds on the new charges totaling $133,000 dollars.
Flores remains jailed as of September 18 in lieu of bonds totaling $228,000 dollars.
