News release from College Station police:
On Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at about 1:10 p.m. police officers and paramedics responded to The Zone Apartments, 2001 Holleman Drive West, for a report of a Deceased Person. Responding officers located a deceased person who had very apparent evidence of having been killed by another person. Detectives and crime scene personnel with the College Station Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene.
Next-of-kin were notified and the victim was identified as 19-year-old Angie Crystal Saucedo. The victim was found in her apartment by her roommate, who advised she had last communicated with the victim on October 4 at about 3:12 p.m.
Detectives identified a person of interest in the Homicide: Cristian Gomez Gonzalez, a 22-year-old resident of Lewisville, Texas. Detectives learned the victim had been in a dating relationship with Gonzalez for about half a year and Gonzalez had visited College Station the weekend of October 2-4.
The victim’s cell phone was not found during a search of her apartment. Cell phone records indicated the phone was last active in Bryan, Texas near the intersection of Leonard Road and FM 2818.
CSPD Detectives met with Gonzalez at the Irving Police Department in Irving, Texas where Gonzalez had agreed to speak with them. Gonzalez told Detectives he left the victim’s residence at about 3:30 p.m. on October 4 and stopped for a drink at a WalMart located at 643 North Harvey Mitchell Parkway (FM 2818) in Bryan, Texas, between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Gonzalez denied any knowledge of the victim’s death or of taking the victim’s cell phone.
A CSPD Police Assistant went to WalMart and reviewed camera footage which confirmed Gonzalez had been there at about 3:57 p.m. Further footage showed Gonzalez throw multiple items, including an item believed to be the victim’s phone (as described by the victim’s roommate and Gonzalez), in a parking lot trashcan near one of the shopping cart returns. The Police Assistant located the victim’s phone (subsequently confirmed as such) in the trashcan.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 7, a warrant was issued for Gonzalez’s arrest for the charge of Tampering With Evidence (for attempting to hide or conceal the victim’s phone during a Homicide investigation). Gonzalez was arrested on the Tampering warrant during the early evening hours of October 7.
At this time, Gonzalez is the sole suspect in the Homicide investigation and there is not believed to be any danger to the public. This investigation remains active and additional charges are possible.
