That’s followed by the promotion of two officers to Sergeant. And there’s a traffic advisory for motorists to avoid streets during the running of Sunday’s Armadillo Dash.

News release of CS PD promotions:
Chief Jeff Capps and the College Station Police Department are honored to announce the promotion of two officers to the rank of Sergeant. The promotion reception will take place on Friday, March 2nd from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the City of College Station Council Chambers located at 1101 Texas Avenue.
Officer Matthew Ford – Started working at CSPD in August 2005. Officer Ford is a native of Deer Park, Texas. He received his Associates degree from Blinn College and has attended Texas A&M University. Officer Ford is currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division. He is a member of the SWAT Team, a Field Training Officer, a firearms instructor, a patrol rifle instructor, a TCLEOSE certified instructor, and a weapons armorer for the police department. Officer Ford has been a bicycle officer and he was Officer of the Year in 2010. He currently holds an Advanced Peace Officer Certificate.
Officer Jimmy Brown – Started working at CSPD in June 2000. Officer Brown briefly left CSPD in April 2006 to train officers in Iraq but returned in July 2007. He is a Bryan, Texas native and he has attended Blinn College. Officer Brown is currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division. He is a Field Training Officer, a TCLEOSE certified instructor and an Intoxilyzer Operator. Officer Brown has been a bicycle officer and a member of the SWAT team. He currently holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate.
Traffic advisory news release for Sunday’s Armadillo Dash:
On Sunday, March 4th, the Bryan/College Station area will host the Sixth Annual Armadillo Dash. We are asking the public to review the course route and the street closure list to ensure that traffic is able to flow with as few disruptions as possible. Below you will find links to the course route maps. Please note that street closures will begin at 6:30 AM.
- Harvey Road between the State Highway 6 East Feeder and FM 158 will be closed to thru traffic at the start of the race until all of the ½ marathon runners have turned to the south on State Highway 30 (to Huntsville).
- Harvey Road between Appomattox and Copperfield will be closed for the duration of the race. It should reopen by 11:00 AM.
- Copperfield Drive will be closed to all traffic until the 5K runners are off of the northbound side and returning to Veterans Park on the southbound side. Once those runners are off of northbound then northbound traffic may be opened. Southbound traffic will not be allowed onto Copperfield until all runners are off of that road.
