A College Station man is headed to prison for violating probation a second time after admitting to causing a deadly crash in December of 2017.

Madeen Maredia was 17 at the time his car struck a vehicle at 87 miles per hour at University and Tarrow that killed one person and injured two others.

Maredia, who is now 24 years old, previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He was originally sentenced to ten years with probation and conditions that included being in jail on the anniversary of the day before, the day of, and the day after the crash.

Last Thursday (April 25), Maredia admitted to a second round of probation violations. Most of the six pages of violations according to court records shows Maredia using or failing to be tested for drugs and alcohol.

A new plea agreement with the Brazos County district attorney’s office, which can not be appealed, includes a seven year prison sentence.

The agreement also gives credit for time served. Online records shows Maredia has spent 628 days, approximately one year and eight months. He has been in the Brazos County jail since December 8, 2022.
