A College Station man admits in Brazos County district court to murdering two family members, wounding a third, and threatening to shoot a fourth member.

21 year old Mike Epperson and the Brazos County district attorney’s office reach a plea agreement involving the gunshot deaths of the man’s grandfather and his brother, shooting an uncle in the arm, and pointing a gun at his grandmother.

Epperson, who was indicted for capital murder, admitted to the double murder and two counts of aggravated assault, and for harassing a public servant.

Epperson received two life sentences for the murders, and will become eligible for parole in 30 years.

The gunfire in May of 2024 took place at the home they all shared.

News release from the Brazos County district attorney’s office:

Mike Epperson pled guilty in the 361st District Court and has received two life sentences for two counts of Murder, 20 years for two counts of Aggravated Assault, and 10 years for Harassment of a Public Serv-ant. These sentences will run concurrently, and the defendant will not become first eligible for parole until he has served 30 years.

On May 23, 2024 the defendant shot and killed two members of his family and shot and wounded another family member. The two deceased victims died at the scene and the third family member victim was shot in the arm. The defend-ant also threatened his grandmother by pointing a firearm at her.

The defendant also lived at the same residence as his victims. The abuse of methamphetamine was a factor in the defendant’s conduct.

After the killings, the defendant fled in a vehicle. The defendant was spotted in the vehicle by the Kileen Police Department just before 5am the next morning. After a slow speed pursuit, the defendant surrendered to police.

Detectives of the College Station Po-lice Department interviewed the defendant at the jail in Kileen where the defendant confessed to the killings.

Statement from assistant Brazos County district attorney Kevin Capps: “It is impossible to imagine the level of suffering inflicted by this defendant on his family. This sentence is an appropriate response to the senseless carnage perpetrated by the defendant”.
