College Station Council Split Vote On Delaying Appointments To Advisory Body

One of College Station’s advisory committees has been two members short since their terms expired at the end of last September.

Both incumbents want to be reappointed to the five member board that recommends real estate transactions involving the city’s Midtown business park and College Station business center.

Two weeks ago, the council voted 4-2 to delay action after Linda Harvell found out there was no attempt to find out if anyone else was interested in serving on the Spring Creek local government board. Harvell also learned of others who were interested in the positions.

Dennis Maloney supported Linda Harvell’s request, noting the board’s real estate responsibilities.

John Nichols wanted to proceed with with the reappointments in the same fashion the city fills other openings on citizen advisory bodies.

The proposed reappointments return to this Thursday’s council agenda. According to the city’s website, applications are still being accepted.

Karl Mooney joined Nichols in voting against the delay. Joining Harvell and Maloney to wait until this Thursday’s meeting were Bob Brick and John Crompton.
