A majority of College Station city council members at their last meeting changed land use and rezoning a small parcel of land because they couldn’t think of a better option.

The council voted 6-1 to change just over one acre of land to suburban commercial at Greens Prairie Road West and White’s Creek Lane…which is between Forest Ridge school and the Caprock commercial center.

Councilman John Nichols and mayor Karl Mooney acknowledged property owners concerned about future drainage issues around a pond.

According to city documents, the property owner stated he has received inquires about building professional offices and daycare businesses.

And according to the application for changing the land use, the property owner stated this will provide much needed small retail services like dry cleaning or a donut shop.
