Thursday’s College Station city council workshop meeting began outdoors, with the ceremonial groundbreaking of the new city hall.
Speakers included Mayor Karl Mooney and City Manager Bryan Woods.
The $39.3 million, three-story structure will have an exterior that looks like a train depot, reminiscent of the rail stop serving the A&M campus before College Station was incorporated.
Construction of the new city hall, which will be behind the present building, is expected to take two years.
