The College Station city council will consider selling city owned land for the construction of a data center.

The agenda for the September 11th meeting calls for selling up to 200 acres at $150,000 dollars per acre. That means a land sale of up to $30 million dollars.

The location is behind the Costco store on the other side of Midtown Drive and between the Woodland Hills and Spring Meadows subdivisions and Texas Independence Park.

Background information from the city also estimates the city receiving between $10 and $22 million dollars a year from property and sales taxes and revenue to the city’s electric department.

A Texas based company, Priority Power, is proposing a one to three story building or multiple buildings.

The size will be based on how much power is available.

If there is not enough power, the project will not be done.
