There is still interest by a majority of College Station city council members in building an indoor recreation center.

Five of the seven members want a public vote.

There was no majority during last Thursday’s meeting what the center should and should not offer. Ideas ranged from indoor soccer and basketball to cricket.

Three members were opposed to having an indoor pool.

There was also no council majority where it would be located, and whether the city or a YMCA should operate it.

The discussion followed a presentation of results of a survey that was done in February of 2020. An outside company interviewed 600 Brazos County households. Some council members wanted another survey with updated information.
