College Station City Council Discusses Street Landscaping

College Station city council members discussed during their last meeting, an idea from councilman Dennis Maloney to stop maintaining landscaping along the freeway.

Public works director Donald Harmon says that was tried once before. His office received many complaints over many months from residents asking when maintenance would resume.

Maloney and Harmon also discussed options that did not totally stop maintenance.

Councilman John Crompton requested a staff presentation regarding more landscaping along city streets.

Currently, College Station will spend more than $900,000 dollars on maintaining street landscaping this year. That’s more than half of the city’s $1.7 million dollar landscaping budget.
