The end of Thursday night’s (January 22) nearly four hour long College Station city council meeting included observations about the Big 6 project, where construction to expand Rudder Freeway started December 1st.

Councilman William Wright initiated the conversation about multiple crashes and called on drivers to slow down.

Agreeing with Wright was mayor John Nichols and councilman Mark Smith.

Smith, who is also a retired College Station public works director, said the “contractor should be commended for the tidiness of his work zones.” Smith also said “It’s beautiful”, it’s “safer for the workers” and “this is the way you’re (the contractor) is supposed to do it.”
