Business at the last College Station city council meeting included awarding a contract to design the final six blocks of rebuilding Francis Drive.

Along with a new street pavement, new storm sewers and sidewalks will be built on Francis between Texas and Walton.

That includes going through Thomas Park, something that assistant public works director Emily Fisher told council members has been discussed during neighborhood meetings.

Councilman John Nichols called on giving the design company to be given some flexibility.

The nearly $280,000 dollar design contract includes two meetings with neighborhood residents and six updates with city staff.

It will take at least eight months to complete the design and take construction bids.
