College Station & Bryan City Councils Approve Atmos Energy Rate Increases

Natural gas customers in College Station, Bryan, and 179 other cities served by Atmos Energy will be paying more starting October 1.

College Station and Bryan city councils this month unanimously approved increases averaging $5.52 a month for residential customers and $13.39 a month for commercial customers.

The Bryan council did not discuss the rate increase in public before its vote.

College Station’s assistant to the city manager Ross Brady told council members the rate increases was $32 million dollars less than what Atmos first sought for the cities in its Mid-Tex region.

Atmos representatives attended both council meeting but had no comments.

The average monthly increase for Atmos industrial class customers is $87.34, and for Atmos transportation class customers the average increase is $574.68 per month.
