College Station Bomb Squad Investigates Suspicious Package

Suspicious Package

College Station police responded to a call Thursday morning about a suspicious package in front of the PetSmart store on University Drive.

Lieutenant Steve Brock said upon arrival, officers asked neighboring businesses if they recognized the suitcase; no one did.

Nothing could be found on surveillance video of the suitcase being dropped off, so as a precaution, the bomb squad was called in.

The bomb squad x-rayed the suitcase and it was found to be empty.

Brock said businesses were closed for about 45 minutes and the parking lot was blocked off while the investigation took place.

On Thursday, April 21st, 2016 at 8:30 AM the College Station Police Department received a report of a suspicious package in front of Pet Smart on University Drive. The manager of Pet Smart arrived for work and noticed a suitcase to the side of the entry doors and thought it was suspicious. College Station Police Officers responded and looked at the package, which was described as a medium size suitcase with rollers with what appeared to be graffiti painted on it. After checking with other businesses and video footage they were unable to determine how the package got to that location.

Every precaution was taken to insure the safety of the community so the parking lot was blocked off and the College Station Police Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene. Members of the team were able to investigate the package and determine there was nothing inside. The businesses in that specific strip center were required to delay opening for 45 minutes. The area was cleared at 10:45 AM. Presently, there is no danger to the public.
