City of College Station Announces Cooling Stations to Battle Extreme Heat
The City of College Station has announced several cooling station locations around town this week. We’re under an extreme heat advisory today, as the heat index could exceed 110 degrees. Residents whose home air conditioning is struggling or who need a temporary break from the outdoors are encouraged to use these public spaces to cool down and hydrate. The following City of College Station air-conditioned municipal facilities are open to the public during normal business hours: Weekend and Weekday Availability: Larry J. Avoid sugary, caffeinated or alcoholic beverages. Check-In: Frequently check on elderly neighbors, family members and pets to ensure they have adequate cooling. Know the Signs: Monitor yourself and others for heat-related illnesses: Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, dizziness, headache and nausea. Heat Stroke (Emergency): High body temperature, confusion, rapid pulse and a lack of sweating. Call 911 immediately if heat stroke is suspected.

Grimes County Man Charged With Five Counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance
Grimes County Sheriff’s Office released details today about an arrest from over the weekend. Deputies responded to Shiflett Lane in Bedias around 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon in regards to a motorcycle that had been stolen in Brazos County. Through the course of the investigation, they learned that the suspect was 36-year-old Mitchell John Zografos of Bedias. After a brief pursuit, Zografos ditched the motorcycle and fled on foot. He was spotted on FM 1696 West and arrested. He was charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of evading arrest.
