Texas A&M police (UPD) has identified a suspect who made unwanted contact with four female employees. According to UPD’s website, the most recent incident involved two women on Tuesday (May 26) in A&M’s office of graduate and professional studies. That follows an incident in March where the victim was a paramedic during the transport of a patient. And the first incident was last October in the Wehner building. WTAW News has contacted the university asking if the suspect is an employee and if so what is their employment status. The response from a university spokesman was “An investigation is underway, and appropriate steps are being taken – in accordance with university and system policies — to ensure safety on campus.” UPD’s news release encourages victims to report unwanted advances and asks everyone to report concerning behaviors.
Brazos County commissioners approve at their May 19th meeting, borrowing $45 million dollars. Seven million is part of the $100 million dollar bond issue approved by voters in November 2022 for road projects. And $38 million in certificates of obligation (CO) that was not approved by voters is going towards renovations at the administration building and the new courthouse annex. The commission’s votes were 4-1. Fred Brown voted no because he was under the impression that Brazos County was paying cash. County judge Duane Peters agreed he liked paying cash. But Peters pointed out the 20 year CO’s are going towards financing construction projects that are expected to last 40 years. Peters also used an illustration of buying a home by borrowing the money. The county’s outside financial advisor Blake Roberts told commissioners that their high bond rating of AA+ reflects the commission’s financial practices and policies. The 28th time that a 30 year old Bryan man is booked in the Brazos County jail since January of 2016, begins with speeding in the Big 6 construction zone. The arrest report from College Station police says an officer clocked a car going 80 miles per hour in the 60 mile per hour zone. The officer then learns the driver has a suspended drivers license and has been convicted seven times for driving with an invalid license (DWLI). DeKyran White was arrested for DWLI, Brazos County court warrants involving felony and misdemeanor drug charges, and four warrants from Bryan municipal court on traffic charges. As of May 28, White remains jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $92,000 dollars. And jail records show he owes Bryan municipal court fines and fees totaling $1,820 dollars.
