The College Station fire department is one of only 75 in the state with a class one rating from the Insurance Service Office.
The ISO achievement was recognized at Thursday night’s College Station city council meeting.
McMahan thanked fellow city employees from departments where ISO evaluated College Station’s water supply and distribution system, public safety communications, and fire prevention codes and enforcement.
Fire service elements ISO considered were response capability, fire station distribution, the department’s apparatus and equipment, training, and the department’s organizational structure.
College Station business and homeowners are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to check about lower premiums as the result of the ISO one rating.
