The city of Bryan hires the operating company of the Texas Rangers baseball team and the Rangers ballpark to study the future of Travis Field stadium.

A statement on the city’s website says REV Entertainment, a division of REV Sports Management, will take six months “to conduct a thorough feasibility study to assess Travis Major Field’s viability as a catalyst in Bryan’s expanding sports and event tourism economy.”

A city news release to the media says “The study does not commit the city to future construction or renovation. It is intended to guide future decision-making by evaluating the field’s viability as a contributor to Bryan’s growing sports and event tourism economy.”

The city’s website says the agreement focuses on four things:

  • Conceptual design for renovations to Travis Major Field and surrounding mixed-use development
  • A budget proposal and development schedule
  • Outreach to professional sports leagues to explore potential tenancy
  • A strategy for year-round, multi-use programming beyond baseball

The agreement, which the city will pay REV up to $85,000 dollars, also calls on REV to “Facilitate selection of an architect to lead development of a comprehensive plan for all future phases.” Architect fees will be at an additional cost to the city.

City of Bryan news release to the media issued August 5, 2025:

The City of Bryan announces a new partnership with REV Entertainment, the official sports and entertainment partner of the Texas Rangers, to explore a potential long-term redevelopment plan for Travis Major Field, Travis Bryan Midtown Park, and the surrounding area. This initiative aligns directly with Bryan’s vision to elevate Midtown Park into a regional hub for sports, entertainment, and mixed-use activity.

As part of the six-month agreement, REV Entertainment will conduct a thorough feasibility study to assess Travis Major Field’s viability as a catalyst in Bryan’s expanding sports and event tourism economy.

The study does not commit the city to future construction or renovation. It is intended to guide future decision-making by evaluating the field’s viability as a contributor to Bryan’s growing sports and event tourism economy.

“REV Entertainment brings a high level of experience and a national reputation in sports and venue development,” said Bryan Mayor Bobby Gutierrez. “We look forward to seeing what their analysis produces as we explore the best opportunities to maximize Travis Major Field that will complement Legends Event Center and the entire Travis Bryan Midtown Park for future generations.”

REV Entertainment will lead the public-private initiative, including:

“We are thrilled to partner with the City of Bryan on this project,” said Sean Decker, President of REV Entertainment. “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with the city to reimagine a new future for Travis Major Field and the surrounding area, with the goal of supporting year-round sports, entertainment, and community programming.”

Built in the late 1940s and acquired by the city in 1956, Travis Major Field has long served as a cornerstone of local athletics. This marks the city’s first formal, comprehensive planning effort to evaluate the field’s potential within a broader vision for Travis Bryan Midtown Park.
