Christmas Movie Being Filmed at Downtown Bryan’s First Friday

Downtown Bryan’s First Friday of the new year will still look and feel very much like Christmas.

Sandy Farris, Executive Director of the Downtown Bryan Association, said they were approached a couple months ago about filming a Christmas movie in Bryan.

“They are going to film “Rekindling Christmas” in Downtown Bryan and other locations as well all in Bryan,” said Farris.

Crews will be out during this month’s First Friday to shoot “b-roll” or background footage for the movie. Farris said people are encouraged to wear holiday or cold weather attire.

“We were asked to make sure this First Friday reflected the period of Christmas celebrations, so all of the holiday lights will still be up, the Christmas tree will still be in the park,” said Farris.

Farris said as crews continue to film the movie over the next few weeks, people are encouraged to watch, take pictures, and post to social media.

“Bryan is actually listed as a film-friendly city in the state of Texas, so all of this just helps us raise the profile of Downtown,” said Farris.

Bryan native Ashley Martin Atwood is co-producing and starring in the film. Raini Rodriguez, also from Bryan, will also be in the cast.
