Among the issues facing many of the 21,000 customers who lost electricity Tuesday in College Station are those who have irrigation systems.
Jennifer Nations at College Station Utilities says to check the programming stations to ensure the proper amount of water is being applied.
For the month of May, Nations says one deep watering a week is enough.
For the best soaking, water before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
Nations also says now is the time to check for leaks and broken sprinkler heads, which can also waste water and cost you money.
