Charges in Strip Club Murders

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Travis County sheriff’s deputies have charged a 26-year-old man with capital murder in the shooting deaths of two men at an Austin-area strip club.

The shootings happened in the parking lot of the Pink Monkey Cabaret northeast of Austin early Monday. Killed in the predawn incident were 24-year-old Jose Hernandez and 26-year-old Arturo Rodriguez Jr.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, deputies acting on witness descriptions stopped a truck and detained the two inside.

One was Jorge Luis Gutierrez. He’s now in the Travis County jail with bond set at $1 million. He also is held on a federal immigration detainer.

No attorney is listed for Gutierrez on the jail record.
