Chamber Announces Survey Results

Chamber Day results are out, and President Royce Hickman says there’s not much difference between this year and last year.

Hickman says more than 100 volunteers surveyed almost 700 businesses, and local business owners are generally feeling positive.

He feels the most interesting information is the comparison between different types of businesses, which saw a total increase in sales of 57% versus 64% last year.

Hickman says sales increases included 61% for construction,  78% for energy, 64% for restaraunt, food and beverage, and  80% for tourism, hospitality and recreation.

He says this kind of analysis brings an understanding of what kinds of businesses are developing here, and he believes some of the increases could be due in part to A&M joining the SEC.
