
The chairwoman of the Texas A&M system board of regents was the guest speaker at the January meeting of the A&M faculty senate.
Comments from Elaine Mendoza of San Antonio included calling for students taking financial literacy classes.

Mendoza says because Texas has the fastest growing population of young people, universities from other states are coming here to recruit them.
Mendoza reminded faculty members that the A&M system has been giving scholarships to low income families since 2011.

Mendoza was asked to compare the A&M and University of Texas systems. Mendoza says most of the U-T system campuses are in urban locations…while the only one in the A&M system is in her hometown of San Antonio.
