Central TX Man Dead in Cop Shooting

GEORGETOWN, Texas (AP) _ Texas Rangers are investigating the fatal shooting of a central Texas man during a confrontation with sheriff’s deputies.

The incident happened late Friday in a quiet subdivision near the northern shore of Lake Georgetown, about nine miles northwest of Georgetown and 35 miles north of Austin. A Williamson County sheriff’s spokesman says 30-year-old Ryan Blake Justice was shot dead late Friday after approaching deputies while brandishing a rifle.

Sheriff’s Sgt. John Foster says a boy living at the house where the shooting happened had called 911 numerous times to report that his parents were in a physical battle. Deputies arrived to find Justice outside the house, holding a rifle.

Foster says Justice moved toward the deputies, one of whom shot Justice dead. Foster says the deputy, whose identity was being withheld, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the conclusion of the investigation.
