AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – Jaylonn Walker scored 30 points, hitting six 3-pointers, to send Calvert to a 53-45 win over Roscoe Highland on Friday in the Class 1A Division II state semifinals.
Walker made five 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished just one shy of the state tournament record of seven held by Dallas Lincoln’s Taylor Morrow and Nazareth’s Heidi Ramaekers. Walker’s 3-pointers in the first quarter accounted for all of her team’s field goals in the period.
Walker opened the third with her sixth 3-pointer to give Calvert a 33-26 lead. She scored four more points in the period, including a basket with 2 seconds left that pushed Calvert’s lead to 43-34.
Diesha Clark scored 10 points for Calvert (25-1).
Hannah Allen scored 13 points for Roscoe Highland (28-4).
